Woman facing Charges for Buying Alcohol for Minor involved in Accident that Killed 6 People
A 22-year-old woman is facing charges after allegedly buying alcohol for an underage drunk driver who caused the deaths of six people last year.
Michelle Cole has been accused of having bought vodka and ‘Four Loco’ for the 18-year-old Sylvia Garay who caused an accident involving a Greyhound bus on July 22, 2010. Garay’s blood alcohol content was tested at .11, with the legal limit being .08.
The teen flipped over the SUV she was driving and her vehicle was sitting in the middle of the highway. The Greyhound attempted to swerve out of the way, but ended up striking the SUV before crashing into a concrete divider. The accident killed six people, three of the people were passengers on the bus, two were passengers in the SUV, and the sixth was Garay.
Cole is scheduled to be in court August 23 and could be facing up to a year in jail as well as $1,000 fee if convicted.
