Adoption Attorneys
Basically, there are two types of adoption: family and non-family adoptions. A family adoption involves the adoption of a child by a close family member (sibling, aunt, uncle, cousin, grandparent) or step-parent. The law allows for (relatively) simplified procedures for a family adoption.
Generally, an adoption requires the consent of both birth parents. There are several circumstances in which this consent can be waived by the Court. In many circumstances a biological father can successfully stop an adoption that attempts to terminate his parental rights.
